October 10, 2014

Rico Harris, then 37, was last seen on October 10, 2014, after leaving the home he shared with his mother in Alhambra California.

A former member of the Harlem Globetrotters, Rico Omarr Harris, was on his way to Seattle to visit his girlfriend when he simply disappeared. Hard to do for a man who was 6'9 and weighed almost 300 lbs. Three days later, his vehicle was found in the Yolo County Regional Parks near Rumsey, CA, about 450 miles north of Alhambra. His wallet, cellphone and backpack were all located nearby. The car battery was dead, and his backpack filled with jumper cables was found nearby.

Harris’ mother said she last spoke with her son at 9:30 a.m Friday morning when he told her he was in the Sacramento area. Harris’ girlfriend in Seattle told authorities she last heard from him around 10:45 a.m. when he left a voicemail message.

The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office conducted a ground search that day and called in helicopters. The next day, more searches on the ground via the air, and with ATVs did not produce any leads. Harris was in the process of moving to Seattle to join his girlfriend and to start a new job.
